Recently, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had inaugurated some of the development projects amounting to worth Rs 100.95 crores in the midst of Rohru people of the Shimla district. However, it is quite a multifield project which majorly involves three fields like infrastructural development, education, and horticultural development.
Development Projects in Rohru for Betterment
The drive was initiated with the sanctioning of a number of revolutionary projects, including a state-of-the-art grading and controlled atmosphere (CA) store for horticulturists. This facility, pegged at Rs 29.22 crore, will increase the valley’s apple storage capacity from 700 metric tonnes (MT) to 2,031 MT, thus augmenting the local farmer enormously. Ultra-modern machinery worth Rs 20.93 crore was installed to grade 5 metric tonnes of apples per hour, ensuring better quality control and increased productivity for the region’s key agricultural sector.
Upgradation of Infrastructure and Public Health
Sukhu approached upgrading the infrastructure of Rohru by starting various vital public health and infrastructure projects. Such among others was a new Government Ayurvedic Hospital constructed at a cost of Rs 2.79 crore to augment healthcare services in the region. In addition to that, Sukhu also inaugurated water supply schemes meant for the increasing population of Rohru. The key schemes are a drinking water project costing Rs 5.03 crores for rural areas of Rohru and a Rs 3.92 crores Chunjar-Katlah, Shalan, and Melthi-Kupri water supply scheme, essential to access drinking water properly.
Besides, Sukhu laid the foundation stone for many road development projects, including strengthening of crucial roads like Podhar-Mandiyori-Karasa, Seema-Ratnari, and Samoli-Parsa, which will significantly enhance connectivity in the region. Notably, it also included the laying of a new hostel at Seema College at a cost of Rs 8.25 crore, which will enhance the quality of accommodation of students in the region.
Education Development: Step Towards Quality Education
Education was at the forefront of the announcements made by Sukhu. He announced a decision of renaming Government College Seema after the former Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, on the annual day of Government College Seema. He also announced launching B.Ed. from the next academic session, which would open up higher education for the local students. He also promised financial assistance to the long-pending multipurpose building at the college.
Sukhu did not stop there; he also promised to make a few commitments towards bettering the education system of the state. He criticized the previous BJP-led government for opening several educational and health institutions without adequate budgetary provisions, which caused the quality of services to go down. Sukhu stressed that his government would focus on education through strategic investments and vocational courses that would prepare students for the challenges of the future.
Commitment to Youth and Employment by Government
The Chief Minister spoke about the importance of hard-work and dedication for one to become successful and not to indulge in drugs and other evils. In the event, Sukhu administered an oath to the students not to take drugs and strive for their future. His dream is to ensure the youths of Himachal Pradesh get the best education possible so that they can prepare the right kind of people for the workplace.
He stated that more measures in the form of these steps are to be taken by the government for the education sector. Minister for Education Rohit Thakur told that 15,000 new posts of all categories have been sanctioned in the education department that will increase not only the quality but also access of education to people in the state. “Nobody was recruited or promoted during their tenure as the previous government was not bothered,” Thakur said.
Support for Local Horticulture and Rural Development
Moreover, besides education, his government has made sure the lifting of local horticulturists, it brought schemes such as for aiding orchardists growing apples, further improving the infrastructure and numerous other support activities for the uplifting of the rural. Thakur said, 1,134 crore sanction has been witnessed on the road project works which are focused on reviving, renovating interiors in the Rohru region which has materialized as something necessary in rural.
A Bright Future for Rohru
The function was finally winded up with a cultural program presented by the students of Government College Seema. It witnessed a grand applause. Sukhu announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for the students’ relentless efforts and talent.
