Indore is going to witness an unprecedented level of infrastructure upgrades, as the Indore Development Authority (IDA) wraps up the finalization of some of the key projects aimed at enhancing connectivity. The IDA board of directors, led by the Indore divisional commissioner Deepak Singh, here on Thursday took several significant decisions that will shape up the future of the city. This includes the introduction of an aerial ropeway transit system and Bus Rapid Transit System as well as several other huge projects. Let’s dive closely into these exciting updates.
Aerial Ropeway Transit System: The Change of Indore
The most interesting to me project sanctioned is the ropeway transit system that transits aerially. In terms of the aerial ropeway system, it will bring the very efficient and modern transport into operations which will be aiding on ease traffic congestion within key Indore areas. From this meeting, two main routes which link some significant areas are adopted for the ropeway.
Route one connects between:
Chandan Nagar Square
Gangwal Bus Stand
Malgwan Square
Yashwant Road
Gurudwara
Jawahar Marg Square
Sarvate Bus Stand
Maharaja Yashwant Hospital
Shivaji Statue
Second Route:
Indore Railway Station
Malwa Mill Square
Patnipura Square Bhamori
Vijay Nagar Square
A detailed survey will be done for both routes for the feasibility study and some extra insight. The Aerial Ropeway system will be an easy and an environment-friendly mode of travel to the commuters, minimizing the traffic and making daily commuter much more efficient.
BRTS and Elevated Corridor
IDA has sanctioned the ropeway system and feasibility study and tender documents for much-needed Bus Rapid Transit System of the city. BRTS is designed to give quality public transport with exclusive bus lanes reducing the congestion of roads and the faster move to the destinations.
An elevated corridor along with the development of numerous flyovers will be created. This will help to enhance connectivity and traffic flow throughout the city. The new plans are expected to greatly minimize road traffic and increase easy access to all areas of Indore.
To make these projects a success, IDA has awarded the contract for BRTS and elevated corridor to M/s VK Infra Tech Management Pvt Ltd, based at Delhi. This would also be in line with the modernization of Indore city’s transportation infrastructure to cater to the residents and the visitors.
Other Key Approvals by IDA
The IDA board has also sanctioned several other important projects in the city. These include:
Scheme No. 97 Plot Development: Plot development in this sector would further add to the expansion of the city, thus giving way for more residential and commercial ventures.
Tulsi Das Ram Temple Renovation: The renovation of the ancient Tulsi Das Ram Temple in Khajuri Bazaar has been sanctioned for Rs. 2.25 crores. This would not only improve the beauty of the temple but also save the rich cultural heritage.
Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium: This would be a newly constructed Lata Mangeshkar Auditorium in Scheme No. 97 Part-4 that will come into operation adding a cultural facility to the infrastructure of the city.
Major Initiatives in Bus Terminal Management
It also makes efforts to enhance the management of the Inter-State Bus Terminal situated in Schemes No. 139 and 169-A. It has appointed two different agencies for managing the bus stand, one for the commercial activities and the other for maintaining and keeping the bus stand clean. This is believed to enhance the functioning of the terminal and make passengers feel better.
A transaction consultant will also be engaged to manage specific expenditures associated with these projects.
New Plot Disposal Rates Sanctioned
As part of its continued efforts to promote urban development, IDA has sanctioned minimum rates for the disposal of plots in various schemes, including Scheme No. 71, 78, 166, 51, and 59. These new rates will help regulate the property market and provide fair pricing for land transactions in the city.
Conclusion: Future of Indore’s Development Sees So Bright
Though the decisions taken recently by Indore Development Authority reveal its commitment towards modernizing the city and enhancing the quality of living for its citizens. While the innovative aerial ropeway transit system is to be set up, BRTS along with elevated corridors would surely transform Indore into an effective, accessible, and a sustainable city.
As Indore grows, not only will these initiatives keep the city connected but they would also contribute to economic growth with an investment for people over there. The future has never been so bright in regards to this city because now with forward-thinking decisions the IDA has brought under the aegis.
