The two major infrastructure projects that have reached their completion dates are going to change the face of Patna in the coming years. Soon, the residents of the city will enjoy a 2.2-kilometer double-decker elevated corridor and metro rail services, both of which are going to revolutionize urban mobility and connectivity. Construction towards that date has grown at an appreciable rate as the city prepares for these developments and promises to meet the set deadline of 2025. Let’s take a sneak peep into the progress of these exciting projects and also their features.
Connectivity Enhancer: Double Decker Elevated Corridor
One such innovation that would ease congestion in one of the busiest transport zones of Patna, besides changing the face of this locality, is the much-awaited double-decker elevated corridor from Kargil Chowk to Patna Science College. Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh says work on the elevated corridor is going on at a fast pace with achievements of major milestones reported as below:
- Foundation work: 93%
- Substructure: 83%
- Superstructure: 53%
- Approach path: 60%
The DM has confirmed that this project will most likely be completed by February 2025. When it will get completed, the double road will not only facilitate ease of traveling but also form a landmark for the infrastructural development of the city.
Two-lane elevated corridor is also coming with the elevated corridor, and that will make fast traveling on this alternative network of roads. Traveling time would be saved immensely when people travel between Kargil Chowk and Patna Science College. In this dual-layered design, the traffic as well as the future metro rail lines will be catered, and this makes it a very important element of Patna’s shifting urban landscape.
Patna Metro: New Horizons of Urban Transportation
In addition to the double-decker road, Patna is also doing great things in the development of its metro rail system. The metro will provide an alternative for the city’s busy streets and help reduce traffic congestion while promoting a more sustainable and efficient form of transportation.
The metro project would reach its end stage in fully operational stages by the year 2025. This also includes building of metro stations for six numbers which are found at nodal points; including Akashwani, Gandhi Maidan, PMCH (Patna Medical College and Hospital), Patna University, Moinul Haque and Rajendra Nagar.
As of now, these constructions for the stations are on their way and, on completion, will provide easy access to metro service across Patna. Therefore, the metro will not only facilitate smoother transportation in the daily commuting mode but will also upgrade the mobility in the city in general.
PMRC is coordinating with the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited, BRPNNL to deal with the problems that arise due to the construction process. Also, the shifting of business houses that fall in the double-decker construction site is done with much care as the government arranges shifting of businesses to other locations.
Coordinated Efforts to Tackle Problems
The project teams, despite the construction work going on, ensure minimum disturbance. Recently, during an inspection, DM Chandrashekhar Singh met with BRPNNL officials to review the progress and discussed the issues. One of the major issues that have come to the fore during construction is the adjustment of barricades and shifting of service roads. The DM has asked the Patna Metro Rail Corporation to remove the barricades four meters from the actual location so that road for service lanes for both sides of double-decker will be provided.
Even the business owners whose shops, are in the path of the service road of the double-decker project will also informed and given Saturday to shift their shops with the new ones of equal measurement which the BRPNNL has already constructed so that the displaced business people can be accommodated, all this is done on the proactive basis so that the project will be performed without any disturbance to local business.
Looking into the Future: Patna Transformed by 2025
The double-decker elevated corridor as well as the metro project are the landmarks in the urban journey of Patna. By the time 2025 rolls on, the city will look into a modernized system of infrastructure promising to provide enhancement in urban mobility, decongesting traffic flow, and enhancing the quality of life for its citizenry.
All these will help develop Patna as a model city in the areas of smart infrastructure and urban transport. The double-decker road will create easy connectivity from all the vital points. Meanwhile, the metro rail system will also help create a green-friendly, convenient means of transporting commuters in this city.
Conclusion
Patna is going to alter the face of its transport infrastructure by 2025. The double-decker elevated corridor and the metro rail system are under construction; therefore, the city has all the reasons to be upbeat about becoming a more integrated and efficient urban hub in the future. As such projects are nearing completion, Patna will witness the dawn of a new era in urban mobility, opening up a brighter, more accessible, and sustainable future for its people.
