In that sense, the Capital Region Development Authority, headed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, recently sanctioned major tenders worth Rs 11,467 crore that are likely to transform Amaravati into a modern, well-equipped capital. The wide-range infrastructural developments will only aid in bettering the urban facilities available, reducing the risks of flooding in the city, and provision of all those amenities for both residents and government employees in the new city. In addition to being the 41st Authority meeting held at CRDA, this apparently forms a milestone infrastructural transformation over at Amaravati, thereby touching a growth hallmark.
Principal Developments Planned at Amaravati
While taking the meeting, MAUD minister Ponguru Narayana has spoken some key proposals that are accepted by CRDA. Those center upon all needs for infrastructurizing to the city besides all possible directions concerning sustainable growth.
1. Infrastructure Development
The most obvious projects that are approved by CRDA are to construct 360 km of trunk roads at the estimated cost of Rs 2,498 crores. These roads will ensure connectivity among people in a manner that would offer good transportation and let the residents as well as the government employees have a smooth movement. This humongous network will be like the backbone to the city’s emerging urban infrastructure in Amaravati, decreasing traffic congestion, and providing easy access to essential services all across the city.
2. Flood Prevention Measures
It has allocated Rs 1,585 crore for several reservoirs designed to regulate the flow of water in the region to save it from the threat of floods. The reservoirs are to be constructed across Pala Vagu, Kondaveeti Vagu, and the Gravity Canal. This is what the government needs because it realizes that the region is seasonally threatened by the monsoon. Hence, an area that needs to be saved from the erosion of infrastructure and farm land.
3. Residential Complexes for Government Employees
Residential Apartments for Employees Working in Govt. Administration Residences have also been sanctioned to support the administration staff by the CRDA itself for all AIS officers and officers of all ranks of gazetted and nongazetted posts of Class-IV staff, while the estimated value is Rs 3,523 crores for these residential developments. These group of residential works have been carefully crafted so that government staff can accommodate themselves in proper and modern comfort at the New Capital.
4. Returnable Layouts for Farmers
Some significant initiative the government has in store is the provision of basic amenities in returnable layouts on farmers’ lands at an estimated investment of Rs 3,859 crore. The layouts have been planned in a way so that the basic infrastructure services may be made available to farmers by way of offering them options. Tenders will be issued immediately and it is set to start by January for the work.
Iconic Structures and Happy Nest Project
Aside from the foregoing residential and flood prevention projects, CRDA was involved with building iconic structures which will lend the Amaravati a more feel of an urban city. Five iconic towers alongside buildings for Assembly and High Courts were floated for the designs. And all the buildings construction tenders are to be invited by end-December itself. These buildings are going to be symbolic to the architectural aspiration of the city and will remain landmarks over the skyline in Amaravati.
The CRDA has also relaunched the Happy Nest self-financed housing scheme that is supposed to comprise 1,200 flats in 12 towers. The scheme would cover 20,89,260 sq ft of land area. The revised cost for the project would be around Rs 984.10 crore as the past delays are added. Happy Nest would be the flagship scheme in the city.
Financial Allocation and Projects yet to be Inaugurated:
The central development authority has also provided the pending housing and infrastructure projects for government employees during the course of development. The CRDA has allocated huge sums to complete the pending apartment constructions for government employees amounting to Rs 594.54 crore and Rs 607.50 crore for non-gazetted officers’ housing and Rs 516.6 crore towards the construction of 115 bungalows for AIS officers. These allocations are quite crucial in the provision of all needs the government workforce requires as the city continues to expand.
Efforts by the Chief Minister in Helping Farmers Impacted by Cyclone Fengal
Other than development projects for cities, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to concentrate on support to the farmers who have been adversely affected by Cyclone Fengal. Reports said that cyclone Fengal had devastated the standing crops over 6,824 hectares. Naidu instructed officials to expedite crop damage enumeration and assured compensation would be released in time to farmers.
To minimize further losses, the Chief Minister stated that grains that have been soaked during rains should be procured and that necessary supports be given to farmers in order not to inflict further damage. He also comforted the farmers that the government will always continue to stand with them and bring about relief in any case of a calamity.
Conclusion: A Hopeful Future for Amaravati Growth
These massive development projects are sanctioned by the CRDA. A major landmark will be completed towards a new, eco-friendly capital city of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Upgradation of infrastructure, flood-control mechanisms, and welfare to the residents and government employees, Amaravati will be a big urban hub. Quality execution with international standards will make Amaravati a symbol of growth, development, and resilience for the entire state.
