Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) which has its coverage areas in the states of northeast, West Bengal, and parts of North Bihar is putting maximum efforts to make trains much safer in all areas of operation. NFR ensures the safety of passengers by continuously upgrading its railway route network with modern technology and infrastructure, ensuring that they travel smoothly and without disturbance.
Making Safe Travels on the Northeast Frontier Railway Better
NFR is showing a considerable improvement in the development of track infrastructure that is more focused on safety. Through the years, the railway zone has brought some advanced technologies into place that can enhance the safety as well as efficiency of the operation. It is a part of a greater effort to make the regional rail network safer and more dependable for passengers.
During the same period in November, NFR mounted 31 Thick Web Switch Point machines with clamp type locking at various stations on its network. The machines were supposed to strengthen the safety along railway tracks by lowering point failures, which might easily make a train have accidents due to point failure. That is one of the ways the NFR ensures it runs safe trains.
Improved Safety at Level Crossing
The improvement in signaling systems plays an important role in the entire safety of the railway network. NFR has undertaken all the extensive upgrades to its signaling infrastructure in various divisions. A number of major sections of the rail network witnessed the replacement of outdated signalling systems, which further lowered the chances of accidents, and improved the efficiency of train operations.
Upgrades include sliding boom barriers at four level crossing gates in Katihar, one in Alipurduar, and two in Lumding division. The purpose of these barriers is to upgrade the control of traffic flow at high-traffic level crossings and prevent accidents.
Further, NFR has replaced the electric lifting barriers at two level crossing gates each in Katihar and Tinsukia divisions for enhanced safety. The new barriers would further strengthen the safety measures of level crossings that are among the prime concerns of the train operating staff as well as the passengers.
Improvement in Fire Safety and Communication Systems
Fire safety is the other priority for NFR as it works on improvement of the overall safety of its operations. Automatic fire detection and alarm systems were successfully installed at Rahamatpur and Arariya Court stations in Katihar division. Such systems are extremely important for preventing fire accidents and reduce the possible damages to railway property, which would help in responding in the quickest possible time to fire hazards.
Besides the fire safety measures, NFR has also been improving communication systems. The new communication systems controlling train movements are now capable of giving the drivers and operators real-time visual information to enable them to make proper decisions. This is a source of improved safety but, more importantly, of better train operation efficiency overall.
Infrastructural Upgrades Across the NFR Zone
The NFR maintains its network safe and reliable through focus on upgradation of its infrastructures. Many of the activities are replacing aging signaling cables and systems to make running trains smoother and more secure. New signaling cables are laid across the stations in the Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, and Alipurduar divisions, raising the reliability of the signalling systems.
In addition, there were replacements of 381 signaling batteries of different capacities in all five NFR divisions. This improves the reliability of safety equipment so that the signaling system works even under adverse conditions. System integrity testing has also been conducted at 25 level crossing gates to ensure proper functions and safety.
NFR’s Commitment to Safe and Efficient Railway Operations
NFR’s commitment to upgrading its safety infrastructure reflects its commitment to providing safer, more reliable train journey experiences to passengers. These efforts can be expected to reduce the train travel-related risks, occurrences of accidents, and provide a more efficient railway system.
The Northeast Frontier Railway continues to focus on safety as one of the prime priorities so that passengers and railway staff can depend on the strong infrastructure. By constantly evolving its technologies and upgrading its systems, NFR is working towards creating a safer and punctual railway experience for its customers.
Conclusion
All in all, the Northeast Frontier Railway’s safety enhancements and technological development stand out in terms of its efforts toward passengers’ safety. With recent implementation of safety features, signal upgrade, and communication system, this would go a long way in raising the general safety and efficiency of the rail network. As a result, this should really impact passenger experience moving forward when using trains.
